The Alliance for Excellent Education held the second in its series of webinars for Project 24. This webinar provided an introduction to one of the gears in the Project 24 framework: technology and infrastructure.
The Project 24 planning framework examines the extent to which the effective use of technology provides tools, resources, data, and supportive systems that increase teaching opportunities and promote efficiency. Such environments enable anytime, anywhere learning based on competency and mastery with empowered caring adults who guide the way for each student to succeed. High-quality, high-speed technology and infrastructure systems within a school district are essential to the advancement of digital learning.
The Project 24 panel of experts, an experienced group of nationally recognized leaders with demonstrated records of success, provided insight into how they approach technology and infrastructure planning for digital learning from the perspectives of a superintendent, assistant superintendent, chief technology officer, and educator. They also discussed key areas of this gear, including adequacy, quality, and availability of devices; robust network infrastructure; how to provide responsive support; and implementing a formal cycle of review and replacement. Keith Krueger, CEO of Consortium for School Networking, moderated the discussion.
